SEATTLE, WA – September 15th, 2011 – After a six year hiatus, independent record label and Seattle Hip-Hop powerhouse, Street Level Records (SLR), has been reactivated and is back with a brand new album to do what it does best…serve soundtracks for the streets!

SLR first invaded the Seattle Hip-Hop scene in militaristic fashion in 1998 with the nine member deep seminal rap group, Full Time Soldiers (F.T.S.). The label spent the early to mid-2000’s dominating the region with a heavy barrage of releases and securing its position as one of the most prolific record labels in the Northwest. Displaying its business savvy early on, SLR advanced into the World Wide Web, utilizing the then fledgling audio technology known as MP3 and receiving an impressive 500,000 downloads through Mp3.com.

“We’re excited to be releasing music again” says Dave “D-Sane” Severance III, SLR’s founder and in-house producer/engineer. “There has been a lack of quality hardcore Hip-Hop since SLR has been gone from the game and we’re back to serve up more of the street poetry that we became known for. The rap game is clogged with cliché and cookie cutter artists; we’re here to give you something different, Seattle style.”

For an indie label, SLR boasts an extraordinary amount of releases in its catalog, consisting of 25 full length albums and 4 mixtapes, with several more albums scheduled for release over the next year. Much of the catalog, which has been out of print and unavailable for many years, will be available again in the coming weeks via online retailers such as iTunes, as well as directly from the brand new www.StreetLevelRecords.com. For our international fans, our new website can be viewed in 14 different languages, including Spanish, Japanese, Russian and German.

Street Level is currently celebrating the release of its comeback album from Smoke & Dub of F.T.S. entitled “Street Sense Pt. 1.” The album contains hard hitting production and features from Akron, OH representative, Ampichino, as well as NW native and former SLR artist, Syko, who is most well known for his work with the late Mac Dre and produced the famous “Thizzle Dance.” The album also features former SLR alumni, BD aka Byron Douglas, and newcomer, Sleep 6. “Street Sense Pt. 1” is available digitally and on CD now.
